Name that inlet!

I have two of these stocks, both the same. Nice looking offhand stocks but the inlet is different from what I'm used to seeing...

The front action screw IS angled like a Ruger. The rear portion of the inlet appears to fit the Ruger M77 Mark II long action. I don't happen to have one of these actions on hand currently so I'm asking for some help to see what might fit. I also haven't seen any flat bottom Ruger actions for single shots. Searching for these only turns up the #1 and #3 rifles. So I'm guessing that someone made a filler for the magazine cutout...

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for any and all help.

:)

I think you answered your question. Looks alot like a ruger 77mk2 action inlet without magazine cut out. Plus I dont know any other manufacturers that utilize an angled fron screw.

If you want to take some measurements I would be happy to check my extra stocks for reference.

Thank you, measurements will have to wait until morning at this point but I'll get them.

Thanks for your help!

:)

At one point in time ruger made some palma single shot rifles might be for one of them
The Ruger Palma single shot actions had a longer receiver tenon. The front action screw also went straight up into the bottom of the recoil lug rather than angled like the standard Model 77's.

Here's a pic for reference.

Thanks for posting this, I did not know Ruger had made a "Palma Action" That is very cool indeed!

I never got into Ruger 77 type actions because I never liked the angled lug system.

WOW! Excellent!

I wasn't aware of this action either but I haven't really been a Ruger guy either...

The spacing between centers is approximately 4-7/8".

The front screw is angled.

Thanks for your help so far!

Hopefully these help. Ruger 77mk2 long action 7mm magnum takeoff stock

I had not seen one of the Ruger Palma actions. I have seen a Winchester Model 70 single shot, but not the Ruger. I would have liked to have seen the angled screw retained. I like that feature.
I have a 77 into which I soldered a solid bottom. I also altered the receiver to accept a Remington 3 lever trigger. I bedded it with three screws ahead of the trigger and floated the tang. WH

That sounds like an interesting project. Do you still have the rifle and would you be willing to share pictures?

Will, I had a chance to work with a Ruger Palma barelled action. Will spare all the gorey details but the upshot is they were just miserable things for accuracy. Very few of those Palma guns were ever used in competition due to multiple accuracy and reliability issues. -Al

I do still have the rifle. It is currently wearing a Savage barrel chambered in 30/40 Krag. As far as pics are concerned, I would be happy to. Right now, I'm in the middle of shooting the high power portion of the Canadian Silhouette Nationals (where I'm shooting quite poorly, thank you very much!) When I'm finished, and after a suitable mourning period, I'll take some pictures. WH
