My Wife And I Just Went Through A Complete Cardiac Checkup.

My Wife Marilyn has recently been complaining about being short of breath, no energy, kinda tired all the time.

I have been feeling pretty good, but recrntly decided to get a permanent Cardiologist. We just happen to have one that is a member of the Tomball Gun Club, so he was a logical choice.

We both went through the entire battery, blood work, neck arteries, stress test, echo cardio gram, etc.

I came out ok. Less than 30% blockage in anything , colesteral good, a few issues in other areas, but nothing near the red zone.

My Wife’s test showed a 70% blockage in the ascending artery in her heart. During her final consultation, she actually started feeding nauseated, breathing heavy, with her blood pressure high. The doctor immediately ordered a angioplasty, she was in the hospital in less than 30 minutes, and in less than two hours had a stent put in that clogged artery.

everything came out fine.

The doctor says she should show an immediate change in her energy level, as that artery, which feeds a major portion of the lower heart, had a significant blockage.

Everything else is in good shape.

I guess we are good to go for now. I have a lot of problems with my legs below the knee. Mostly bad veins that I will have looked at in the near future.

Wise move on your part. Your results mirror mine of 6 months ago and your wife's blockage was detected and addressed hopefully before any damage took place.

May you both have a long and healthy life.

Good catch on the wife's problem, sometimes a bad issue produces a good result. Hope y'all are doing well otherwise. Enjoyed shooting with you in the old days at Rachel's Glen and still enjoy your posts. You lead an interesting life. Take care and best wishes.

I had a similar situation about 10 years ago (age 68). Shortness of breath after climbing 2 flights of stairs. Angioplasty found 60% blockage in one artery, 2 stents inserted. No problems since with good monitoring by the doctor.

Best wishes for you and her.

I lost my wife on November 7, 2021 after 48 years of marriage. They are precious - unreplaceable. Being proactive is smart.

Good for you jumping on this. Most refuse to see doctors because they are afraid but living is way better than the other. I hope she feels better real soon.

This is not to beat up on General Practitioners in any way. The one that I have is a great medical person..... But sometimes things slip through.
One of my previous family doctors gave me A-1 grade and continued my high blood pressure meds on my yearly checkup and the company doctor cleared me for my CDL.
Two weeks later I was in the emergency room with a heart attack that resulted in 6 bypasses.

As ''jackieschmidt'' says, get a permanent cardiologist and see him at least once a year.

Also, if you worked in ANY occupation that had to do with asbestos, go get a High Resolution, No Contrast CT scan for mesothelioma. Get it through your personal medical provider. If you are a veteran you will file a claim with the VA if you test positive and you don't want a conflict of interest.
