My unacceptable answer from PA's liberal Senator...

Dear Mr. Williams:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me about the Second Amendment and the regulation of firearms. I appreciate hearing from you.

Pennsylvania has a rich tradition of hunting, and I support the Second Amendment right of law-abiding Americans to own guns for protection, sporting and collection. But, like many Americans, I believe we need commonsense gun legislation that will help to prevent tragic mass shootings as well as the daily gun violence that takes the lives of approximately 33,000 Americans each year.

The Sandy Hook massacre affected me deeply. The shooter used a military-style assault weapon with magazines containing up to 30 rounds of ammunition. Realizing that he chose this weapon because he wanted to inflict the most damage in the shortest amount of time, and that he would have tried to kill hundreds of children if he could have, led me to reevaluate how we approach gun violence as a Nation. After careful study, I decided to support legislation to close loopholes in the existing background check system, as well as legislation to institute a federal ban on military-style assault weapons and to restrict high-capacity magazines. I voted in favor of these measures, as well as efforts to close a loophole allowing known and suspected terrorists on the Terrorist Watchlist to purchase firearms, when they came before the Senate for consideration in 2013, 2015 and 2016. None of these measures gained enough support to pass the Senate.

Since Sandy Hook, thousands of Americans have lost their lives to gun violence. We have witnessed some of the deadliest mass shootings in modern U.S. history at Charleston, Orlando, Las Vegas, Sutherland Springs, Parkland, Thousand Oaks, and Santa Fe, Texas. Gun violence recently took a toll on our own Commonwealth. On the morning of Saturday, October 27, 2018, we witnessed the most deadly act of violence against the Jewish community in American history. As congregants of the Tree of Life Synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh were holding Shabbat morning services, including a bris to welcome a newborn child into their community, they became targets of horrific violence because of their religious beliefs. Eleven congregants were taken from their families and six other individuals were wounded, including four police officers who responded to the scene. The suspect was armed with three handguns and one AR-15 assault rifle. My deepest condolences are with the families of the victims, and my prayers are with the survivors, Tree of Life congregants and members of both the Squirrel Hill and Pittsburgh Jewish communities, whose lives were forever changed by a hateful act of terror.

As a public official, I believe my colleagues and I have an obligation to enact commonsense reforms that will keep Americans safe and reduce the likelihood of gun violence incidents. We are a Nation of people who come together, roll up our sleeves and solve difficult problems. We can pass smart measures to reduce gun violence while fully respecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. Please be assured that should the Senate consider legislation affecting firearm regulation, I will have your views in mind.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about this or any other matter of importance to you.

Bob Casey

United States Senator

What's wrong with enforcing the 22,000 gun laws already on the books? Crime is BIG business for bail bondsmen, clerks, attorneys, judges, and prison systems, hospitals, morgues, and funeral homes. Everybody's making money at the taxpayer's expense! Most are repeat offenders. How many times have criminals gone through the revolving doors of the LEGAL system. It's not a justice system. If it were a justice system, convicted criminals wouldn't be walking the streets.
The death sentence doesn't mean anything especially when they are sitting on death row for 20-30 years at the taxpayer's expense.
Special interest groups and bleeding heart liberals is one of the main reasons the system is such a mess.
Remember....guns don't kill people, people kill people. If the killer is bent on killing,he'll use something else...besides,NO amount of legislation will keep criminals from acquiring guns. I've had 5 guns stolen by a criminal. Do you really think a criminal is going to go pay money and a background check?
Legislation is not the answer. Stand up and do what's right.

How many of those 33,000 folks would still be alive if not for the illegals coming in?

Where should we be putting our efforts?

lkk

They don't care about the mass killings or 2000 murders. Or they would do something about it. They want your guns it's as simple as that. You cannot control the people when they have weapons.

Politicians are nothing by whores.
Only God CaZn Judge Me Your a whore.jpg

Here are some facts.

FBI statistics for the year 2016.

In 2016, the estimated number of murders in the nation was 17,250

There were approximately 374 people shot and killed with rifles of any kind.
More murders were committed by hands and feet than rifles.

All firearm deaths
  • Number of deaths: 38,658
  • Deaths per 100,000 population: 12.0
  • Approximately 10,000 were by suicide. I added this number from previous research.
  • Law Enforcement use of force deaths totaled 963

1,433 were shot and 246 killed in Chicago in 2018. Just recently we had footage on the news of an MS-13 member, who had been released for another crime under sanctuary city rule, shooting a rival gang member on a train platform in New York city. Correct me if I am wrong but both cities forbid ownership of pistols already but these incidents are a rather common occurrence. So I, like bobinpa, ask why aren't current laws enforced instead of enacting new laws that are focused on law abiding citizens?

Because these criminals are part of the Democratic base. They will need enforcers in their 'utopia'.

Your rep has NO clue about the meaning of the 2 Amend. Maybe you should reply to his letter with a little lecture on the true meaning of the 2nd Amend and wait for his reply if any.

A suspected Terrorist on the Terrorist watch list can buy a firearm in the US ???

Edit: Legally?

You can't argue with ignorance...and in the case of the Senator from PA it is willful ignorance....you don't have to have any sense to be an elected official. Man couldn't find his way out of an elevator unless the door was on the left side.

RIGHT ON!!

I doubt it would help but might be worth a try to point out to opponents of the second amendment, especially the ones who say that it is outdated and belongs back in the eighteenth century, to point out the simple statistical fact that in the twentieth century (1900 thru 1999), somewhere between 225,000,000 and 260,000,000 (unarmed and disarmed) human beings were murdered by their own governments.
Then ask them now that republicans and Trump are in office if they trust the government. Then watch their face.

I may be way out in left field here but I don't think so. Everyone is so worried about a firearms registry(Dont get me wrong do not give them anything). But why? They already have one in some ways. You figure when the time come to take the firearms. They already know who and how many extremist there are and where they are at. They have been following the biggest part of that crowd for years. Now where is the next largest segment of firearms in the U.S., the hunting community!! Every state in the union already has your name, number, age and address. Its all in each states Hunting or Game commission what ever it may be called, everything they need to know when the time comes. Then there are the big websites. Us here, Long Range Hunting, Snipers Hide and how many other shooting and hunting websites out there. If anyone one believes they havent check this out I think you are crazy. When the time comes they are not going to be half asses prepared they will know where to go and when. The only question is will we be prepared?!!

@jghoghunter , you're right on the money. Federal legislation prevents official gun registries. However, the bureaucracy via the BATFE made an end-run at regulation. Manufactures have to track what weapon goes to what dealer, I think, for 20 years. Then the dealers have to keep a record of each transaction for 20 years. Some states have gone even further and require a spent case from a sold weapon. Then you have the background investigation that occurs. Some states require both a federal and state background check. I have no idea how long those records are retained. In most states, the data is not supposed to be retained more than 30 days, but who know how long they actually keep it.

This is all done so they can use the information to solve crimes. It's make sense, but it all boils down to a massive gun registration already exists. It's just that because the Feds a prohibited from maintaining it, they force the industry to maintain it for them. It's really shady.
