My unacceptable answer from PA's liberal Senator...

One could intuit, infer, deduce and suggest - less deaths could be caused by the simple reduction of mass in SUV's.

While the right to bear arms is incorporated in the United States Constitution, the right to drive is a privilege. That particular sense of outrage in the Senate: not happening.

mass of a moving vehicle vs. shooting deaths- both are lethal.
anti-gun is a slam dunk for a politician. This is just one arbitrary, random example of facts - regarding safety, liberty and choices -
and lethal devices. a bit disjointed; odd, but the inference can be drawn - what is safe?, standards, restrictions, and illegal for the good of most.

Andrew Cuomo may be the bellwether here. He sets "a" standard. Just saying- a few represented people make the laws for many. With a political finger in the wind.

I am 155 pages into the Marjorie Stoneman committee report and so far only one paragraph even hints at the bad ideas that led to Cruz even being able to be at the school. Remember the phrase "School to prison"? Some hack we called president made a big deal that kids who were being bad were going to prison (disproportionatly) Politically motivated addle headed nincompoops spun yarns about how treatment and care and opportunity and education and rights and privacy blah blah puke puke were the "answer" and over and over Cruz kept coming back. When he finally "moved on" it wasn't to his next cell. It was just away for a while till he came back and did exactly what those nitwits had been told he would do. Mr. Cruz had many opportunities to go to prison but because educators felt his crimes were opportunities for another educational climate, he was not prosecuted and culled outta the herd. Bad ideas have bad consequences...people die.

Nobody on that commission is gonna tackle that because it would mean the educators were at fault. Better to blame the cops and the guns.

That we need to do a better job of going out to vote.
ah well, that's fine. And respectfully, a losing proposition; in regard to the populace. Simple fact: Urban centers/cities are not pro-shooting. and anti-gun or whatever. And they are more plentiful.
The votes for our representatives rest with this these folk.

But the juice otherwise is provided by our many fine lobbyists.

I'd suggest the NRA as a countermeasure.

Why would we trust a politician to do the right thing concerning gun violence? Most of them wouldn't know an AR-15 from a Beretta 687. Just look at the incoming group in our House of Representatives. Some of them are no more than a bunch of "hood rats" who can't have an intelligent conversation with a bunch of first graders. This should scare the hell out anybody. Maybe our law enforcement officials should enforce the existing laws.

Look at the lame response from Broward County during the Parkland School shooting. Officers from adjacent counties responded first. The Sheriff from Broward County made his people stand down and wait for a SWAT Team to arrive. He then made every excuse he could to cover his own ass and then threw his own people under the bus.

As a Florida resident and NRA member, I am proud to see that Governor DeSantis suspended Sheriff Israel on "Day #2" of his administration.

As much as I like and agree with your sentiment about this and that crooked cop down there, unless someone can correct me I don't think DeSantis had the legal right to oust a county sheriff. County sheriffs are the only law enforcement officers elected by the people is my understanding, and as such they are/were intended to be the most powerful law enforcement officials in the country in each of their respective counties. They are also our first line of defense as gunowners against any other state or federal intrusion on our constitutional rights.
I do think a strong case of treason against the constitution could be sought after that sheriff though.
Yesterday I pulled up and read the entire Constitution of the U.S. as I mentioned in another thread. I could not see or find anywhere in it where the federal government or any of the lawmakers including congressmen get the power or have the jurisdiction or right or authority to write ANY law regarding firearms. I think that would be a good question for Mr. Casey.
If anyone sees differently, please show me where.

That is the problem, these so called "Common sense gun laws" only effect lawful citizen's.
criminals are not and will not obey any of the laws, even these so new one's that they say will curtail or stop shootings.
Criminals do not buy at gun shows or even from private parties in the car lot. They buy them from the Black market, which these politicians are not addressing, or steal them in other criminal acts i.e. burglaries, mostly.
Or in cases like the recent one's in NV. steal them and use then to kill the people, who's home they just broke into and stole other items, but murdered the people before they left.
Yet not one of these politicians mentions, nor even really cares about those facts. It is getting worse and will get even more so with the likes of these Law makers.

There is only one reason they want the guns. You cannot control the people as long as they are armed. Check the history books ask the Jews or ask Mr. Hitler. Once the take the firearms from the law bidding citizens they will wipe most of the criminals out in less than a month. It's really that simple.

Here is the emotional crap you are fighting. For anyone skimming headlines and not reading, it would appear 1200 more have died in school shootings, which is not the case. The tragedy is till there, seemingly normal people do snap, and guns make things easier.
But those who think disarming the country is wise are total fools. Maybe some should look into response times of LE.

Greetings,
This is becoming a boilerplate response from the dims. I have had similar "answers" both in person and email from WA politicians. They have not a clue....

Great start, you head to politics on a gun forum. Why ? Try reading the rules... and also pony up to be a contributing member. Here is a start for you...

I didn't start the thread... just responding, like all the others. Just happened to be at the top of the "new posts" list and caught my attention.

As far as being a financial contributor... I'm not sure that's going to happen since I don't know anyone and I don't know if there will be any value for me. I'll have to see. I am assuming that's why there are free memberships. To see if everything is a good fit before spending money.

Enjoy the forum, you did nothing wrong. Some contributors point fingers, I personally think most like shouldering the burden, it's a feel goodie, if there is a burden.

I know a I may be wrong but I sure do not see this as a POLITICAL THREAD.
I do see it a GUN RIGHTS thread which are being threatened by politicians and pound me too groups. These type of threads seem to be pretty factually based and relevant to our hobby /lifestyle.
Please keep these going
