My theory about internet gun theory

Im humbled and entertained by the folks on this forum.
Each day I find something to ponder and invest some time in understanding, developing
or applying to some future task.
Thank you all.

Every time I think I know what I know, something else happens and I realize I don't know anything. Carry on!

This, times 1,000. The fact that a certain something happenned in my gun is no guarantee whatsoever it'll happen in someone elses gun. And certainly no guarantee it'll happen in every similar gun.

Whenever I find advice on the Internet, the first thing I do is think about how much I paid for that advice, and start valuing from there.

Do more research, rather than taking one person's word on stuff.

My theory is when I decided to go ahead and get one of these new fancy pants phones with the Al Gore invented Internet on it they told me I could meet my French model girlfriend on it...... ain’t working... $@“?>€!!! I Internet

This forum is a reflection of life where you encounter people that have different backgrounds, beliefs, experiences, and opinions… just be respectful and learn/apply what is useful for you! If your contributions help others and/or you’re able to make some new friends… even better!

This forum is populated by National Champions, World Champions, High Masters, President 100's, Distinguished Riflemen, even a few that really haven't won anything but have been reloading since Noah came over on the Mayflower. Many of them no longer post opinions, probably because they tired of being told they didn't know what they were writing about. In the short 11 years or so I've been hanging out here, I've seen many knowledgeable shooters take to the sidelines because they were tired of having BS called with every post. Yeah, it is the internet.

I miss the Guffster.

This is the same story for every forum since the beginning of the internet. SMEs get tired of answering the same questions over and over, tired of explaining why newcomers "novel" idea to revolutionize whatever subject won't work and isn't as novel as they think, and a little dash of tired of arguing with other SMEs over pedantic issues that are a matter of perception.

So that last bit is my addition. Seek to understand the perspective of the discussion before adding input from your perspective. Someone attempting to produce consistent 1-2 MOA load on a progressive press shot from multiple rifles, likely isn't going to get a lot of help from BR/F-class methods of reloading, for example. Absolutely principles cross over, but the perspective of achieving success on one hand would be considered dismal abject failure by the other.

I guess my biggest pet peeve is someone has one failure therefore everything going forward regarding that product is a failure. You see it a lot over on long range hunting with bullet failures.

It wasn’t my shot, oh no absolutely impossible, it was definitely this bullet that I used one time. Therefore this bullet is crap. You see that logic here a lot. I’m guilty of it a time or two, as well. You need a lot of data points before you can start turning assumptions into facts.

Also, comparing what pro shooters use to what you use. I see it in PRS a lot which causes the gear race. Maybe the guy who is winning isn’t because he switched from a 6CM to a 6 dasher and then a NF ATACR to a ZCO. He’s winning because he shoots 15,000 rounds through his rifle every year at his private 1,200 yard range.

Also, my advice is worthless, so please don’t listen to me. I just like to converse with other gun people bc it’s hard to get out and shoot as much as I want to due to life.
