My Savage A17 feeds fine,but my buddies doesn't ?

My buddies Savage A 17 has given him nothing but problems from magazines falling out ( New stock fixed that) to only fire 3-4 shots and it either jams or feed failure. Has there ever been a fix for the feeding problems ?

Yes, place it in a recycling receptacle for 25-30 years. It will then function flawlessly.

I put a boyds stock on one for a friend and had lots of problems. The stock would not allow the magazine to get close enough to the action. I set the barreled action deeper till it looked like the barrel was centered on the top of the barrel channel then removed wood till the magazine was further up and when it feed good had to shim the magazine catch to get it to not fall out when the bolt was cycled

I found the after market magazines were a lot better than the one that came with the A17. I think the older magazine had a non-hinged catch that just kept tension by being bent a little. The new ones had a little spring loaded hinge that makes the barb catch in the notch a lot easier and dosn't fall out due to being not latched properly.
