My New Varmint Rig

Since I have a Ruger .223 Model 77, I find no alternative to Ruger Rings which are quite sweet, positive-locking, and smart-looking. Although Ruger supplies rings with these rifles, Ruger rings go for $80 a set, and I chose medium-height with a front set-back ring to shove the scope a tad closer to my puss. Topped that set-up with a Burris Signature Select 6-24x44mm scope that "sees" fleas on a given-target at 300 yards. Clean, bright, and super-clear due to a fast-focus eye-box. See? Americans still produce some mighty-fine products. 24x is a real eye-opener when the optics are crystal-clear. Cliffy

OFF SUBJECT TARGET with my RUGER entry, I appologuise, again. I don't own a Savage rifle to date. I do READ where Savage is touted as extremely accurate out-of-the-box, where my Ruger Model 77 decidedly required a "trigger job" to reduce its massive trigger crush to a mild squeeze of two pounds. Is the Savage "Accu-Trigger" really as sensational as it's proported to be? I'm not opposed to buying a Savage, but I tire of trigger replacements on otherwise fine firearms. Cliffy
