My new target system

Thought I’d post this in case anyone’s interested.

My son and I will sometimes shoot air pistols or rifles in the basement for fun and practice. It was a bit aggravating when I had to break out of position to go see if my shots were on call or not.

I started this based on a wireless camera system and just hard wired the video camera straight to the video input of the tv. The picture quality is awesome - I can very clearly see the numbers in each of the scoring rings even though the target is about 50 feet away.

In the picture, the tv is in the upper left, and the target and camera are ‘down range’ against the furthest wall.

Works great - just need an old tv, video camera, and a long cable.

That's kick butt! Kind of a 'medium tech' approach! I shoot A/P & A/R as well, but just use a spotting scope - I like your method better though - what kind of battery life do you get from the old video cam?

I’m not sure about the battery life. I have an outlet nearby and just keep it plugged in.
The only issue I’ve had that is pretty easy to overcome is that the camera would time out every so often. I found out if I hit the record button it won’t time out.

Simple, cheap and effective - what's not to like. Great idea for garage/basement shooting.

Here's a couple of my efforts for the same sort of thing:

This one is using a cheap $10 webcam, a basic compact spotting scope and basic 7" android tablet. A 3d printed adapter connects the camera to the scope. 10m air pistol.

This one is for an indoor 25 yard range - around $100 total. Cheap Chinese 7" LCD screen $40, $10 camera, $10 long lens, 30 yards of RCA cable. All powered from a 12v rechargeable battery fitted inside the 3d printed console. The screen has two inputs so can run two cameras. Battery lasts for around 5 hours powering screen and one camera.
