My new RPR 6mm GT

So I picked up my RPR in 6mm GT yesterday.
Today I got it to the range.
For a scope I am using an older Riton 6-24 FFP.
For a suppressor I am using my trusty Hybrid 46.
My ammo is just something I put together....Peterson brass, 38.0 Staball Match, and a Hornady 65 Vmax.
So at 100 yards I shot a 9 round group.
Discounting 2 rounds that I probably messed up, the remaining 7 were within 1".
Which isn't bad for first shots, I think everything will tighten up once I start dialing in recipes.
The Vmax is just a leftover from my 243 Win era, and something I thought I would use up for sighting.
I think I want to use the Classic Match bullets offered by Midsouth Shooting Supply.
For the folks that are unfamilar, they are a relabeled "big name" bullet.
They run great in my 6.5 Creedmoor RPR.
There are also some Sierra and Hornady offerings I would like to try.

The only thing I didn't care for on this rifle is that Ruger insists on torquing on their muzzle break to just a nutty amount.
(All CF RPRs have had this problem. My 338 was so tight it needed the gunsmith....)

(Come on Ruger, you know we want suppressors.....just ship the brake loose and give us a thread protector......or just a thread protector......or learn that the brake is not the lug nuts on a John Deere.......)

I started off with just a normal open end wrench. No go.
So I upped the game....
I used a Crowfoot wrench, and I attached it to a 1/2" drive 18" long breaker bar.
It gave up after that.....
(Now I should say this....the Gen 4 brakes loosen when the "jamb nut" turns COUNTER CLOCKWISE. Do not use a screwdriver to brace the brake like they show in a couple YOUTUBE videos. You only have to turn the jamb nut.)

The TriggerTech trigger is a nice upgrade from the normal trigger...(the 6mm GT is a custom shop offering) The stock on these new generation RPRs is great. You will not need to replace it like the old ones. I am using the supplied pic rail to attach my Atlas bipod, although I was shooting off bags today....

The magazines are Magpul 308 mags in 10 round capacity. It will also use a AICS mag. I will probably get a AICS mag in the future, but that is just a personal thing...the 308 mags work fine....

It lists for a pretty penny, but you can get it under 2K if you shop. I used Gun Genie to find a great deal on it.

If you'd really like to explore the accuracy of your rifle, I'd suggest Berger 105gr Hybrid Target bullets. I shoot a 6mm Creedmoor, and I tried many of the match grade bullets such as the Hornady 108 ELDM, and the Berger 105 VLD, but the Hybrid Targets are the Easy Button for 6mm accuracy.

My Gen II RPR would shoot those bullets into .5 MOA with H4350 all day long. The custom rifle now shoots those into .3 MOA if I do my part.

If a person could find a deal on a used RPR I can make a barrel and they do shoot very well. I would not be surprised if we could hit some pretty tiny groups.

I've thought about doing that myself as a project.

Someone should do a 22 GT. I have brand new reamers. I bet that sucker when I catches on will be huge. 6 GT is also good.

I just built my best friend a 22 Creedmoor and it was a blast to do load workup for.

I have been thinking about a 22 Dasher or 22 GT as something similar, but different (just like I like em). I have a few other irons in the fire right now, but it is good to hear that you have the reamers. I just might take advantage of one of them.

Brad has done both the 22gt and 22 creedmoor barrels for me. 1-12 for the GT and 1-8 for the Creedmoor. Both will go into the 3's if I do my part.
