My new CZ

On the way home from the range today, I stopped by the gun store. Now I own another .223. I bought a CZ 527 with the Kevlar H&S stock. This gun has a 1:9 twist. Does anyone own one? Your overall opinion of this gun?

I'm interested in load,s) you are using in this gun. In my other .223's I shoot from 40 through 55 grain bullets. I would really like to hear what anyone might be doing with heavier bullets, with this 1:9 twist rate.

Thanks!!

I have one. It has a rather long throat, so it is hard to seat lightweight bullets near the lands, which makes it very finicky. I can shoot 55s Ok, but it shoots the 69 SMKs pretty darned good. I would recommend you start there.

I have the exact same gun, and it shoots very accurate
,1/4 " at 100 yards). but only with light bullets!
It even has that kind of accuracy with facotry/ black hills amo, but again with 40 V-Max. And yes it has the same 1:9 twist
,I also measured it). No one can figure out why it is more accurate with 40 g versus a normal 55g for example. I don't know if the chamber is long, but the Black hills miss the lands by about .100.I had a good smith measure the headspace and it is right on to spec! So I use Siera 40g for handloads, as they have a flat base and can reach the lands. I am still very happy with the gun, but am limited in the wind for accuracy. I think the CZ's are some of the best value out there. If they would have had a .243 in a Varment I would have bought it, but I had to pay more and get a Cooper :,

I have the very same gun in .204. Shoots VERY WELL. I bought another 204, and decided to sell the CZ. I'm soooooo glad I was asking too much money for it, cause the new 204 doesn't shoot 1/2 as good as the CZ.

This is a great gun for the money. Just wished I could get something else done with the trigger gaurd and magazine. I hate the magazine that sticks out from below the stock.

P1ZombieKiller, there is a fellow that does magazine conversions on CZ 527's. Here is a link to his site:

I have seen his work and does a nice job. Several guys on the GGVG forum and Saubier forum have had this done to some rifles and this is where I first heard of it.

CZ is now offering their 3 round mag for the 527's in 223R only for now. Call CZ and they can fix you up with the new mag and you'll need a new trigger gaurd.;)

eggman,

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks for the info. As soon as I get the new load worked out for it, I'll send off my gaurd and magazine to have it done.

JC,
sorry... had no intention of taking over your thread.... I love my CZ, and I wanted you to know that.
