My Kansas Buck

Good buck.

I have a friend hunting Kansas the past week. He called and told me it's been too hot and he can't find the deer.
Maybe that's because you found them?

Saw probably 40 bucks over the 5 days and some nice ones but I had my mind made up on shooting a mature buck and this one was! Teeth and gums worn down and aged at 8-9 years. He needed killing! This is my 64th year of hunting whitetails. I still love it! You don't get the big boys by taking the smaller bucks! They have to have age!!

My son Brandon with him:

That is a beaut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What does he measure?

165 1/2 He was missing a G4 on left side. Had that been equal to the one on other side he'd gone 170.

Very nice............. Congratulations !.!.!

Have to ask, what did you take him with (rifle + caliber + bullet) ?
And how far ?

I always like to hear about the gun and the distance, is why asking.

This rifle:

Hunting Rifle by Sharps45 2 7/8, on Flickr

One of those 'good for nothing' Remington SA M700 rifles of which I have several in 308 Winchester using a Nosler 150 gr. AccuBond bullet loaded with 46.5 grs. Varget and a F210M primer. Not a long shot...only 106 yards. Intended to shoot him through both shoulders but there was some sage grass in the way so placed the shot just aft of his shoulder. Bullet penetrated both sides and he went maybe 60 yards before piling up!

Hope you got a break on that thing when you bought it! Remington put the bolt handle on the wrong side!
Very nice Buck, Congratulations.
