I want to thank Joshb for doing the stock school thread, a lot of extra help, and a sample :) for me to see how his stocks look in person. This is the first stock I’ve ever done from a blank and I’m no cabinet maker/furniture builder so I made ALOT of mistakes but I learned much which was the point of doing this one. She ain’t purdy but it’s a functional stock for me I made from wood I allready had. And now I know how to make another one anytime I want. I like that.

Looks like a great start to me. One of the best things is you now have the confidence to use a rasp, drum sander or saw to make final adjustments to this so it fits you, your rest, rear bag and your shooting style that you would be hesitant to do on a "store bought" stock.

You got’er done!:):):) Good job! :):):) Keep your tools sharp. I’ll be doing a true Benchrest stock this fall!
8 coats of Arrow—. I got sharp tools but the operator isn’t so sharpo_O:confused::D just glued up the next one—Thanks again

Thanks HP—- Good point—it wouldn’t bother me any to modify one I made.

It just takes some time to get used to working with wood. It will get easier if you keep at it. I remember cursing electricians. We’d do a fine framing job on a house and the electricians would come and drill holes in everything.;)

thanks for the kind words

Great job for your first stock. Something to be proud of. Nicely done. Josh makes it look easy, but it takes a lot of talent to pull this off. I shudder to think what my first effort would look like. o_O:confused::D:D
