My first 6BR

I have a really good friend who has been shooting a long time and has many custom rifles. Like myself, he worked very hard all his life, never made a ton of money. He now has a comfortable retirement and enjoys shooting even more. He recently acquired a 6.5-284 Bat actioned rifle and decided to free up some room in the safe. I have been wanting to build or buy a hunting 6 BR and he had a rifle that fit the bill. He asked if I was interested which, of course, I was.

He brought a stainless Remington 700 action, 25" Krieger 1/8 twist, Remington 40x kevlar stock and a Jewel trigger. We went across the road from the shop to our range and he let me shoot a few groups with it. Wow. Discussed price, which was unbelievable, and shook hands.
Rifle came with his log book and a dummy case for measurement.

Waiting on a set of Redding dies. I have the Lapua brass, and some 105 VLDs ready to go.
I think I'll top it with a 6.5 -20x Trijicon I have. I can't wait:)

The 6BR is just NO FUN! Work up a load, then shoot. No need to keep looking, just shoot what works. I've used the exact load in two barrels now, both 14 twist 4-groove Shilens (2000 rounds on the first, and right at 1800 rounds on this one). Only had to do some load workup recently because my powder lot has changed (LT-32 lot 6 changed to lot 10) Same charge as before but 0.2 tenths more with this lot.

When I first got my 6BR in 8-twist, it would shoot just about any powder (H322, Varget, BenchMark, 8208XBR, and a few others); didn't really care much about what I used. I ended up really liking XBR with an 80FB, but had to go to the LT-32 because XBR was unobtanium - no regrets, tho!

Like others have said, you're gonna have fun!

Thanks guys. I had heard there was a single feed magazine box to help with feeding available. This one has the standard box. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Jeez guys, you said easy tune.
I tried 3 different Bergers Saturday in order to fire form some brass. 105 VLD target, 87 gr. VLD hunting and the 88gr FB High bc varmint. The largest group was 1/2 moa due to one I threw out. Smallest was .118.
This Trijicon is a great hunting scope but doesn't have the finest crosshair. I'll probably change it at some point.
This is the damndest thing I have ever loaded for.:)
