It hurts a hell of a lot but I always come around to the idea that my pet would expect me to take in another soon.
Very sorry to hear about your loss. It breaks your heart but he would want you to be happy again with another dog. When my last Doberman passed away after 13 years I was sick for four months and lost 40 pounds. Then my wife and friends convinced me to get another Doberman. I did and I am so happy that I did, it helped me recover. That little puppy looked me in the eye and tilted her head and licked my face like she knew I was hurting. She is twp years old now and still loves to sit next to me on the couch with her head in my lap and sleep in our bed with her head on my pillow. We have had five dobermans over the years and everyone was as precious as the first.

It's amazing how much cell phones have changed things. I have so many pictures of my little buddy because I can pull my cell out and snap a picture anytime. I only have a handful of photos of Princess, who preceded him, and to be honest it can be a bit difficult to remember her clearly.
I cherish the time I have with each one but pretty quickly move to adopt another after they've moved on. I entirely agree that each of them, if able to, would tell me to adopt another. They all deserve a life-long home and family.

I feel you. I lost my beagle, remmy, on June 4th from old age. Our 13 year old swissy was just diagnosed with lung cancer. We are keeping her comfortable and if she’s in any distress we will put her down. It feels like someone Just stabbed you with a knife.
