My barrels has Worms?

Looks like corrosion to me. I did metallurgical failure analysis for 45 years. I wonder what the alloy is. You have no choice keep shooting it. What do you clean the bore with?
Don't know details, rifle was bought with two barrels, and I put new one on with this unexpected finding. Not much cleaning on the new barrel since it has only couple of hundred rounds on it. But when I clean, I use Hopes 9. In my experience, it works better then the Fancytech cleaners.

If I had a rifle that consistently group in the 1/2 moa range at 100 yards, I wouldn't do anything aggressive to the bore, only normal routine cleaning.
I shoot F-open. 1/2 at 100 usually means 1 MOA at 600. If I have 1/3 MOA barrel, I am competitive. With 1 MOA barrel I am getting complements how nice my rifle looks. I guess to cheer me up?

And the best break-in is scrubbing the throat with Iosso or JB. Ideally, do that before firing any rounds. Otherwise, one or two cleanings with JB or Iosso a couple times in the first 100 rounds seems to work well.

After that, I recommend JB or Iosso every 200 rounds or so but only if needed. That said, the one barrel I did use Iosso every 100 rounds was still shooting 5" 10-shot groups at 1000 yds at 1000 rounds. The throat had eroded a little more than I thought it should, but the throat was nice and smooth with very little fire cracking.
Just don't get things too smooth as it actually promotes copper fouling. I just put a tuner on someone's 30BR bbl that has about 2000 rounds on it. As usual, after taking it out of the lathe, I blew it out, flushed with brake cleaner and blew it out again. Then I ran a single patch through it, soaked in patch out cleaner...no soak time. I'll post pics in a minute but holy crap! That patch had almost instantly turned new jean blue! So, I patched it out and ran another soaked patch and left it alone for about a half hour. Holy crap again, but even worse! So, I call the guy and tell him what's going on. I tell him I'll finish cleaning it out and scope it and see what's going on, if I can tell.
After some time and cleaning, patches start coming out clean the next morning...so I whip out my trusty $50 borescope. Damn that bbl is gorgeous...TOO gorgeous. So I msg the guy...Tell him his bbl is pristine except it's like a mirror inside. Sure enough, he tells me that he had been using one of the newer mildly abrasive bore cleaners(not JB) on it until very recently. It was by far the worst fouling I have ever seen come out, especially that fast and especially a premium bbl 30BR. He said it shoots good and I guess that's all that matters but I wonder how long it'll take for that bbl to settle back down without casting a lap and lapping it lightly with 320 aluminum oxide. If it were my bbl, that's exactly what I'd do to my own but I don't offer that service as I'm not 100% confident that it will only help it and not hurt it....and it takes some time to do. Scares the crap out of me, some of these new cleaners and $50 borescopes. More is NOT always better.
Just thought I'd share this. A couple of pics of the first couple of patches coming. Unfortunately, I didn'tsnap a borescope pic and it's all packaged up now but I should've.--Mike
The first pic is zero soak time...just pushed a wet patch through a dry bbl and it came out like that. The 2nd is after about 30 minutes soaking and the last is a little later, after it started getting better. Obviously, I didn't take a pic of every patch.

Understood.

For me, 1/2 moa is my approximate standard since I'm a varmint and predator hunter.
