My 6BR Savage Target

Got to shoot it a little today and shot two decent groups. A three shot group of .180" and a five shot group of .365".Not to bad but I think it can do better.

What is the brand of barrel and who did the work. That is some really good shooting. I am currently collecting parts for my first ever 6BR build. This cartridge is perfect for varminting out to 600 yards. I can't believe I waited this long. Once again, nice rifle and excellent shooting!

Nice shooting rifleman.Is there a bedding block in the stock you have or does Savage bed it straight to wood?

My guess is that's a full factory gun--factory stock, action, barrel.

I think we may find that the Savage 6BR may set a new benchmark for accuracy among factory rifles.

Nope, it's not a factory gun. I ordered a Savage Target action and ordered a barrel from McGowen,yes its a McGowen) and I got a take off F-Class stock on Gunbroker and threaded, chambered and crowned the barrel myself,Boatright Custom Guns) and then bedded the action to the wood stock and let the bullets fly. It shoots pretty good I guess but I am NOT satisfied yet, it should group under 1/4" and I wont stop looking for a load until it does. I read a post over on Benchrest Central that the Savage factory guns,F-Class 6BR and 6.5-284) are not performing well, I guess some are having to be sent back to be made right. Hopefully they will get it straighted out and make a great product like they always have.Thanks
