My 6 Dasher, first 600 yard group. PICS of target and rifle.

I started practicing a little at 600 today, for the match this Saturday. This is the first 3 shot group, after I got on paper. Nice sunny day in the mid 40's and winds switching from left to right again. Needless to say, there was sufficient mirage to make it interesting. No wind flags or pennants, so I had to use the running mirage to gauge wind direction and strength.

Horizontal spread is 2.914 and vertical is .218. The 2 shots on the left are my first two on the target, they measure 1.308. I waited a long while for the condition to get close again, then took the third shot. Guess I didn't let the condition get quite close enough before touching the trigger but it was very hard to tell such a subtle difference by mirage alone, especially when there was so much mirage.

6 Dasher
Once fired Lapua brass
32.5 grains of Varget
105 Hybrids sitting .015 off
205M primer
2993 velocity

I have also included a picture of the rifle, showing a nice view down the length of benches at the range. I'm set up on number 10, number 60 is WAY on down the line. You might also be able to make out my laptop on the next bench. The laptop allows you to control the remote camera for the 600 yard targets.

File was too big to post both; here is the rifle. Argggg. I'll have to re size the rifle, it is a teeny bit over the limit here. Success, Irfanview came to the rescue on resizing the picture.

Remington 700 action, 30 inch Broughton 8 twist barrel, Lone Wolf Ultimate Thumbhole stock with adjustable cheekpiece, Jewell trigger set at 4 ounces, Weaver T 36 in QRW rings. Farley front rest with Edgewood front bag and Edgewood Gator rear bag.

You know what I did was I have been looking down at similar threads and check them out,, being a knuckle head I didn't even notice the date,, I've probably revived a few of late.

What an embarrassment. I got a phone call from my buddy Ron Boyd a little bit ago teasing that he was just reading about me on the forum. I was confused because I haven't posted anything on the forum for quite awhile. He finally confessed that it was an old posting that was drug back up.

That stock never did shoot well. I re-bedded it for my nephew's 700 after I had a real rifle put together; BAT DS, PRT Lowboy and a Brux 8 twist in 6 Dasher, with a Nightforce 12-42 Benchrest scope. My nephew struggled with it in 600 Yard Benchrest matches also. My standard reply to him was, "There's a reason why I don't use that stock anymore." He built the same rifle that I have when his income allowed.

Man, a 6 year old post. That thread needs to die a permanent death.
