MY 25 X 47 LAPUA ODCR CUSTOM BUILD & LOAD WORK-UP

Finally got around to the tuner test with the 135 gr. Berger LRHT bullets today. Setting 10 was middle ground for this load. Verifying two groups back to back in the ones. Chrono #s are fantastic for this load. I think it is ready for 300 and 600 yd. checks.

135 GR. BERGER LRHT 2.131 O M 2.883 COL T/L B S .465 B C .650
POWDER VV-N540 38.3 GR. PRIMER CCI 450 .281 BU. T/S -10-
SEATED @ 2.124 O M 2.876 COL .007 OTL

Just wanted to bump my thread and keep it active. We are looking at a couple things now to figure out how to maximize our results with the 25 X 47.

Also like to mention that ODCR builds are winning a lot of matches these days. Just informed that Robert McMichael (Mississippi) just won the Freedom 1000 yd. Nationals HG Score - 2nd place in HG Group and 1st in HG Overall in PA shooting a .284 built by the ever increasing in popularity Zack Donovant - ODCR (WSMNUT here on the site) Just recently his builds won for Jason Owens, Dick Powers, Gene Parrish, Mike Ruppert, and Seth Wooten was shooting a barrel chambered by Zack as well according to the reports I've seen. This adds nice check marks on the right side of the page for the best builder I've ever had build for me. Great Job Zack and Thank You for the quality work you turn out build after build for us guys here in S E N C.

EDIT: for corrections

Thank you for keeping this thread updated. I’ve enjoyed reading the progress. I am about to build my first 25 cal and I was having a hard time choosing between the 25-08ai or the 25x47. I’m building it for my wife and midrange f class. This thread might have just settled my decision.
Thanks.
Dwayne

Yes Sir, our hope is to help guys like yourself who are planning a build to make good decisions without having second or after thoughts. And to inform readers of the custom reamer from which our rifles are built upon by O D C R.

Mine is a PRS type gun, and I might have had a little to do with Servos trying the 25x47… (I was a very early adopter of the new .25 cals) I run a 28” Brux chambered with the Blackjack V2 Reamer with OAL of ~ 2.775”. Mine seems to like being .015-.020” off light jam. FWIW my load is below, and would be safer for a more typical 25x47L with the 130 class bullets:

- Lapua 6.5x47L Brass
- 39.0gr H4350
- Berger 135 LRHT
- Rem 7 1/2 Primer
- 2.107 Base-Ogive (load journal states “Tight knot @ 500”… haven’t touched it since)

I typically see 2850 fps, and know a lot of the PRS guys are running 38.5gr H4350 in 26” barrels for ~ 2760-2780 fps, so your extra 0.100” OAL and the 28” barrel sounds about right to get 2900 fps before real pressure. N160 could also be interesting, since it acts a little out of family for a VV N100-series powder. I’ve seen quite a few reports where it seems to burn between Varget and H4350 and put up velocity to match. Its on my list to try.
