Muzzle Brake on 7 mag sporter....couple questions..

Another thought is to use a correctly sized reamer to finish cut the .020 exit hole for the best accuracy..

Got them ordered...got one for 6mm brakes too.

Well...I wasn't satisfied with the thread fit on the first brake and ordered a second one and made a new tenon. This one turned out 100x better! Thread fit is very nice and this brake threads all the way on the its supposed to. I used the Arthur Warner HSS threading tool and Vipers Venom to cut the threads. Worked awesome.

On a side note...the two brakes I ordered had a different counter bore dimensions. The new one was much longer, like .186" longer. Another thing is the threads are not cut close to the base of the counter bore. I had to turn down the tip of the tenon for clearance so the brake would tighten against the tenon shoulder.

Nat...silly question for you. Let's say i was going to install a muzzle brake on a blued barrel...how would I keep the test indicator stem ball from marking the barrel when indicating on the barrel OD in preparation to turn the OD of the brake?

Scotch tape. Save yourself some grief next time. Take a piece of scrap round stock, cut your threads and try whatever you are mating the piece with. Then put the real deal in the lathe. This advice is for newbies. Hog
