Brake that doesn't need much shoulder

Another custom shoulder and brake on slim barrel. I use Harrell’s brakes and bore out to size on the barrel. Radial brake not for belly shooter but they have tactical side ports also. Much cheaper than mass produced. The radial brakes are very efficient and have been using for 10+ years. IMG_4793.jpeg

Make the brake to seat against the crown. I would not be concerned with threading your barrel to 9/16x32. This would leave you a decent shoulder and still enough thickness. I would seat on the crown and shoulder concurrently.
Jackie,
I have done a bunch of brakes both ways, and honestly can't tell if there is any difference. If one was to test, it would require a very good rifle and shooter to make the test valid. Since virtually all of the brakes I made and installed were on lightweight hunting rifles, if it worked, it worked! I never did any comparative testing on the same barrel/rifle, but I suspect that any difference would difficult to see. WH
