MUZZLE BRAKE CLEANER

Looking for some options on cleaning the muzzle brake at matches. Usually have 10-20 minutes between pit duty or shooting again. Currently using Bore Tech C4 but the results have been less than 100% satisfactory. Any other product/method anyone is using that they would like to share?

Thanks.

Paul

I have been known to shoot a brake a long time without cleaning them, sometimes all year or more. One day at the match I decided to clean mine. I borrowed some kind of liquid or spray (yellow color) carbon cleaner from DAN Frazier. I can't remember the name of it but it worked great. It took all that baked on crud off in a few minutes. I get my brakes real clean than get real warm on stove then apply frog-lube. I keep it warm and keep putting it on until no more will soak into metal. I have over 300rds down the barrel and brake is still clean. it seems that carbon cant stay on slick metal!

CLR in a small container works great for me, by the time your done with pit duty its clean. Rinse with water or brake clean!

You can buy Break Free Powder Blast at Walmart for about $10 per can in the sporting goods department and it is amazing at cleaning anything. Be very careful not to get it on stock finishes, it is very agreesive and will turn clearcoats and paints into mush. I use it on parts that have heavy carbon build up. Though I don't use it inside my barrels because I fear it is TOO aggressive. It works very well for removing just about anything from metal surfaces.
