Must have tools for reloading bench

Glen has a unique style of writing and it is tiresome to read at first. But after a while, you get used to it and just get on with the contents. Just so you know, he prides himself on having that style. For some reason.

That said, this book is very good and you will get a lot from it.

I have bought that book. Seems very good, but difficult to read.
I haven't read that, but it can't be any harder to read than Glenn Newick's book. His publisher (Stoeger) either didn't copy edit manuscripts, or employed a junior high dropout for that function.

Newick's book was published in 1989, the same year the World Wide Web was invented, and thus a little early for modern self-publishing.

Tools with carbide cutters and inserts. Primer pocket uniformers, outside case neck case deburring tools, case trimmer cutters, sizing dies, etc. Really makes case prep much easier and they last forever.

A must have:
Primer Pocket Safety Tool (uniformer)

The least essential:
Wilson Case Trimmer

Nothing wrong with the Wilson. It is great. I bought a Giraud Trimmer, with the thought that I would use the Giraud only on large quantities. Wrong. I got tired of putting those cases in the Wilson Case holder and started to get set up for all cases on the Giraud.

Dillon Super Swage

Was supposed to be "the way" to do it. I found that I do not like the premise of how the tool works (spreads the primer pocket mouth outward, essentially). I could never get it set up so that one setting worked correctly for all cases, even of one headstamp. As a result, I was always doing some again with more swage, and this always resulted in some having too little and encountering primer seating difficulty. I think I will set up my Wilson Trimmer for primer pocket chamfering, but now, I no longer do a lot of USGI brass, so I continue struggling on with the Super Swage.

I don't care for Zediker's books. I think that sometimes he doesn't recognize his limitations and has a tendency to write on topics that are beyond and outside his level/area of expertise.

I know this thread is a bit dated… but the appropriate one for this recommendation. I recently added the Sinclair deburring tool cited below to an order. It produces an extremely smooth/uniform surface very quickly, and it’s made in the US from carbide that will likely last longer than me… for a very reasonable price!

Yep, I love mine!

There is no end to the tools that are offered to reloaders. Of the tools that you have for reloading, which would you consider essential for loading your version of top quality ammo?

What would you like to add?

What do you wish you never bought?
More is better. Tommy Mc

I have bought that book. Seems very good, but difficult to read. Just started chapter 4.

Any others I should try?
I started out by reading the front section of several reloading manuals including Lee, Nosler, Lyman. They complement and reinforce each other — look for safety issues such as matching your case base to shoulder datum dimension to the chamber dimensions, double checking you put a primer in each case, double checking there is powder in each case, range of safe powder charges, signs of high pressure.
