Mullerworks barrels

How many here are using these? How have yall found his cut barrels to stack up against the likes of Brux, Bartlein, Krieger, Hawk Hill, Obermeyer, Rock Creek? How have yall found his buttoned barrels to stack up against the likes of Broughton, Douglas, Benchmark, X-Caliber, Lilja, Hart, Shilen... etc? As Ive heard not one negative thing on his barrels. And from the last time I looked into it, and according to Bill Calfee, Mullerworks buttoned rimfire barrels are amongst the absolute very best in the rimfire benchrest arena next to Shilen's ratchet rimfire BR barrels.

It almost seems from a few people's experience, that Dan Muller is in a league of his own when it comes to barrels? Curious to hear yalls experiences with them: whether its his rimfire barrels, or his button- or cut-rifled centerfire barrels.

One more thing, is he using his own button rifling machine and his own cut-rifling machines? Or is he using Rock Creek's machines as I know he was affiliated with them someway.

Thanks gentleman.

I have used several of there button rifled 20 cals and 2 AR blanks. All worked well. I will continue to use there 20 cals.

I've used on of the button rifled barrels on a 6.5 saum project. The thing shot lights out. Break in was easier than a broughton and velocities were great. I wouldn't hesitate to use his bbls again.

I beleive Dan has his hands in and around all of the best barrel makers in the business.i have one in a 6mm barrel and continues to amaze me . Going to be ordering up another very soon . Dan is the man .

I had a 223 built by Greg Young at Bugholes with a Mullerworks 26" M24 taper 8 twist that I am very happy with.

I have known Dan for several years, He helped Tim North get Broughton barrels started. He left there around 2005. Dan moved to Rock Creek where he worked and learned about making cut rifle barrels. He began acquiring barrel making machinery. He bought out a button riflers machinery and set up his own shop. He continued to work at Rock Creek by day and worked in his own shop by nights and weekends. He has developed a proprietary lube for butting barrels. He also has built a state of the art CNC cut rifler. Dan continues to work part time for Rock Creek making their Cut rifle cutter boxes and cutters. Dan has come up with several types of modified rifling that show great promise. I have used his 3 groove, 4 groove, 5R, 6 groove, 6R, and 7R barrels. All have been hand lapped with just the right amount of choke.

I have been personally using Dan's barrels for several years now both for myself and customers. I stock Dan's barrels in most calibers and contours. When my inventory of other barrel makers runs out, I most likely will only stock Dan's barrels.

Dan's reputation as a barrel maker has already put such a demand for his barrels that they are taking more and more time to get. He is a one man shop and doing all he can. I would say Muller Works Barrels are in a class of their own.

Hope this has been helpful.

Damn so I assume that with his CNC riflers, he has all the capabilities in customized rifling that Bartlein can do? His shop sounds like another evolution in precision rifle custom barrel manufacturers. Buttoned centerfire, single point cut centerfire, one of the consistenly badass most accurate rimfire barrels out there (alongside the Shilen ratchet rifled barrels and few others). Not only that, but however many lands/grooves you want with whichever rifling profile -canted land or conventional - that you want, along with customizable land/groove dimensions(groove width/land width).... THATS basically the ability to customize every single aspect of the barrel, including obviously the contour/length as well. Buenas Cosas!!!

In,
Dan DOES do a lot of experimenting as you mention....don't confuse that with 'taking requests' from customers wild ideas. If you want to use one of his barrels, tell him what you want to do with it, and let HIM choose what will work best....that never fails to produce exactly what I was looking for.

I have Muller barrels and if you have the chance, buy one, you won't be disappointed !
Dan also makes maybe the best 22 rimfire barrel IF you can find one.
His barrels are very limited do to his hand lapping practices being so time consuming. He refuses to compromise quality for volume and he won't send them out the door until they pass his spec's.

Does anyone know what Dan uses for sporter contours? I can't seem to find the chart on his site. Also how do you go about ordering from him.

Have to throw my two cents in here. I just had Borden build me a new 30BR, was supposed to have Kreiger, long story short Jim ran out of Kreigers and sold me one of his personal barrels that he uses called a Muller. I wasn't to sure about that decision until i shot the dam thing last weekend, Muller makes some amazing barrels! 15 rounds fired 2 patches to clean all the carbon out and the accuracy of the barrel is far greater then my ability to shoot it!

Just got a chance to shoot new Mueller 20 Var-Targ from Bugholes could not be happier very small groups and next to no copper fouling during fire forming. I will be a customer for life.
