MTM Shooting Range Box - BR stocks?

I have the older one and it is ok but I am sure there are others that are more stable. They seem to be too light in my mind as they wont hold still on the bench unless you screw it down.

I would recommend this one. Same price plus tons more storage and free shipping. Use the Amazon link at the top of the page and this sites gets a kick back.

Just going by reviews I would go with the MTM. But I would agree with thumper... get it from Amazon and use the button at the top of the page http://www.amazon.com/MTM-RBMC-11-Shooting-Range-Box/dp/B001F0GDO6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390861968&sr=8-1&keywords=mtm+Range+Box

Thanks for the replies. The reviews are what lead me to the MTM, although neither seem perfect. After looking around some more, MTM makes a tactical one that looks to be the same as the regular one, but includes a mag mount for an AR. I could use that too. The photos on Amazon for the tactical one show some pictures of the gun cradles and it looks like the rifle one flares out at the top. Hopefully it'll be wide enough for a 3" stock. I'll bet they are the same cradle on both MTM models.

I have one of the MTM. I use it for storage only. The stands for cleaning don't' position my rifle in a down hill fashion to keep solvents etc. from running into the chamber.

I place the barrel in the 'V' instead of the 3" stock on top of the 'V'. This accomplishes 2 things: 1) it slants the barrel down making the cleaning solution run towards the muzzle instead of the chamber. 2) provides a more stable platform for cleaning the rifle.

Thanks for all the info. I ordered the Tactical MTM box from Amazon. Thanks for the tip Thumper. Now hopefully this cold spell lets up a bit so I can get out and dirty up my rifle ;D

I’m bringing up this old thread because I purchased one around Christmas on sale at Scheel’s. I hadn’t used it much because of not being able to carry my cleaning solvents and oil bottles upright, do to the bottom section not being tall enough to do so. Today a hole saw popped into my mind, and this was a easy fix.36CD6EF6-201F-461A-87CE-30CF58B63A4F.jpeg

If you aren't using a front rest and rear bag, you would might need something like this. But they are not stable and slide around, as you are trying to run a patch through the barrel.
