A month or so ago, in another thread, I posted a photo of my rotating long range groundhog shooting bench. Mr Majestic asked (tongue-in-cheek, I'm sure) "Where's the cup holder?". I actually thought that was a good idea. So I researched cup holders but didn't find anything that suited me. After looking over the bench one more time, I noticed that I might be able to hang my insulated drink bottle from the locking bolt that allows the bench top to be offset from the seat. Voila!! A cup holder.

Forgot to mention. Now if it would just warm up a little so I could set up somewhere besides my driveway.

Now Bill just keep your elbow off the table top and your ulnar nerve will thank you! FWIW after cubital and carpal tunnel surgery on my shooting hand/arm I do believe I have better trigger control.

Only issue I see is movement. Darn drink bottles and binoculars may move, upsetting a stable hold.

Now since I am mostly wrong, you have a good chance it comes out a winner.

That's great news, MrM. It's been 3 weeks since surgery and I feel good enough to go hunting now - if the weather would just cooperate. But I still have 3 weeks of physical therapy left.
I've developed a sort of "tap" (very light trigger) for my g'hog shots. You know how they like to pop up and down especially in taller alfalfa. So in those cases, as soon as the crosshairs are on target, I tap the trigger. It's become a habit for most shots. It works - at least for me.

Actually lack of movement is pretty good. The tube in tube for rotation has some slop. Therefore the top leans forward with the rifle resting on it. Then leans back when you sit down. But your weight keeps everything steady and I'm able to see my hits (and misses ). Longest kill from the bench was a few yards shy of 1000.

I'll say one thing. It must be nice to have a ground hog shooting location where you can set that awesome looking right up and just sit and shoot. Typically I have to run and gun. Maybe pull out a few sand bags and glass. I have used my pivot bench on PD hunts but that's a target rich environment. Glad for your success on them hog locations. Maybe one day I'll find one like it.

I wish I could figure out how to post a picture. Might have to talk to my 13 year-old daughter for some professional technical help. I also use this same Caldwell rotating table. I found other improvements were in order. I made a wooden top that is 6" wider and 8" longer, with an arced cutout for where you lean forward and which has a 1/2" raised edge so nothing can roll off of it. The top is screwed over the plastic top and enables one to put a full-sized Gator bag a the rear and room up front to put my joystick rest, a few boxes of ammo and my binocs, wind meter, stainless insulated coffee cup, ect., etc. Of course, there is a hole drilled off to the side with a reinforced ring around it to allow insertion of an umbrella pole for the small 4' diameter umbrella I found online at K-Mart and the folding bass-boat seat from Cabela's provides the back support for those long days of squirrel wars. We add sand bags totaling around 30 pounds for good measure and these things become VERY stable. These things are GREAT!
