Moving On From Savage Bashing...What's So Great About Remington?

Savage does have a huge following and it's not an accident. They have made an effort to give the shooter what he wants in a package that's engineered for mass production. That's how Remington stole the market from Winchester back in the day. That was back when Remington had people like Mike Walker and Jim Stekl competing. Remington's tin ear has knocked them down a few notches these days.
They still make a good action and it is the most copied with the most aftermarket support. As for winning matches; it depends on who shows up with what and is having a good day I think.

Remington stole the market from Winchester because they made a cheaper product that worked well enough. I think in 1948 that a 721 was $30 less than an M-70 or about 15%. That would be $300 in 2020 dollars and that was a lot to your typical hunter and shooter in the late 40s and 50s.

Savage also makes a cheaper product that works well enough. They have also tried hard to make affordable entry level rifles for various types of accuracy shooting, and they are to be commended for that. If they would smooth up their action a bit and improve their stock design, they would have an out of the box, reasonably competitive LR BR rifle.

I can grow the nicest tomatoes with savage barrels
And you base that on what? I can show you match results with factory class Savages beating quite a few custom guns. So to say their barrel are junk compared to other factory barrels is a statement I doubt you can back up. No, they are not a custom barrel but if we had to depend on getting new shooters by starting off with a custom rifle we would have far fewer competitors. Or, maybe you just grow tomatoes. I have a brand name custom barrel I could donate to you. I had 2 Savages that would shoot rings around it.

What do you think would be the most accurate Savage out of the box with nothing done to it? (Cartridge and model) Seriously I’m thinking of getting one

I went with the Savage Model 10 GRS in 6.5 Creedmoor and have been very happy with it. I put 1900 rounds on the factory barrel and it was still shooting less than 4" average groups at 600 yards. The 6mm Creedmoor would also be a good choice in caliber IMHO

A savage stealth evolution in 6 or 6.5 creedmoor.. i would put one up against any out of the box 700

I saw one of these in 6 BR shoot right with and even outshoot some customs at one of the few organized shooting comps that I’ve attended. https://www.savagearms.com/contentp=firearms&a=product_summary&s=18613

If you want more of a varmint style rifle the LRVP is a good choice and it comes chambered in a short list of cartridges. I would choose 6 BR.
