Mounting a Red Dot on a Std Optical Sight 1"

I would like find a way to mount that would let me mount a light 1" Tube type Red Dot sight onto a std 1" tube Leupold scope.

It seems that the best way to do this would be to take 2 Std Rings and Weld them together base to base so that they would look a bit like a figure 8 but with a bit more distance between the circles. This would be a lot like the mounts used to put a flashlight onto a shotgun barrel or shotgun tubular magazine.

Has anyone seen this type of mount for sale?

I got the idea from the way scopes and mounts are commonly put on ARs, but in my case I have a rifle in 22LR
that I use for Rimfire Steel Challenge. I like to zero my Std 3x9 scope in for 100yds, but often steel challenge targets are placed closer, like 20 yards. I hate to continually have to hold under 3" to 4" for closer shots. So if I could mount a Millet Red Dot that I have extra, on top or to the side of the std scope, then like with the ARs, I could just turn the rifle a bit to use the second sighting system. I figure by using std rings, I could rotate the Red Dot around the scope by just loosening up the ring caps.

Thanks for any help.

millet offers rings with a picatinny rail on top for mounting,i ordered the 30mm rings & ordered a set of gg&g reducers to take it to one inch, was cheaper than buying one inch rings, burris also offers the same in their tactical rings, would save you alot of trouble
