I get your point, I bought a Howa 1500 kit gun in 223, mounted a used scope on it total cost under $400 and it shoots 1 1/8" at 300 yards.

I' ve see amazing results with factory rifles today. I'm not saying that custom rifles won't do better but they cost more.

The better the question is phrased the better the answer will be, no doubt.
