Hornaday sure did a great job in marketing, or brain washing...... They run it at higher pressure and make the comparison with a cartridge under normal pressure. Run them both at the same pressure and you will see the bullshit disappear .... jim

Don't understand all the hate for the 6.5CM. Or is it just some have jealousy for somebody else getting all the attention that they aren't getting for a number of years now? This cartridge has been accepted as mainstream and is not going anywhere for a long time. The cartridge fits a niche perfectly as it carries longer length high BC bullets in a detachableM that its cousin the 260 can't do. All while being highly accurate with low recoil.

As for rifle recommendation; I have learned that no factory rifles compare with my Rem700's that are custom smithed locally by Pete Pieper, supplying him with the new top quality PacNor, Bartlein, or Brux barrel of my choice. The photo below is of stock I made myself that holds AICS mags.





Got a photo too of 5 shots inside less then 1/4" if anybody wants me to post it. But that is not the norm, and that dirty-windy guy who's in everybody's thread said I'm possibly hiding flyers under the dime. lol

Here's a photo of the stock with the last patch of it's smooth auto-body finish before its prime, paint and fleck finish. I used this metal punch to manually hammer the entire length of the stock from one end to the other to peen a texture onto the smooth glass finish. Believe it or not, it requires patience but doesn't take as long as one would think to fully peen a square inch of surface into the rough once you get a rhythm going. Those inches turn into Square feet in a few hours.

I have long thought about the 6.5x47...they are nice but each time I consider one I look at the prices for brass, dies, etc. and just say no.

It is the sign of the times. You have a lot of men that are basically cowards. They would not trash another persons equipment at a public range or say the sort of really stupid things to others at shooting events. If they did they would be escorted out or get their a.. kicked. It is a sad thing really. As Bill Bennett said "America is in it's post Christian era" and the lack of civility is one of the hallmarks of that fact.

6.5x47, 5 shots, 100 yards, good conditions, custom barrel, chassis gun, well tuned. At that level the case starts to matter.
Cartridge accuracy talk with consistent groups much bigger than that is best left to freakbook and typers hide.

I didn't want to start the pissing contest, lol, but this 5 shot group was fired with my black rifle in my post above. It is NOT the norm for me, and is why I don't care to push it. But the fact is that with all the conditions right, and me doing my part, the 6.5CM is a very capable performer. "Luck" doesn't just happen to produce 5 shot groups like that without a capable rifle. I am NOT a great shooter, and have been to the range once all this year.

I have sat back and laughed out loud for years over all the CM hate speech, I for one don't understand it at all?

Hornady hit it out of the park like it or not, the CM was never designed to be the "most accurate round out there" I don't think anyone made those claims?
What they did was common sense, make accurate affordable ammo in both match and hunting recipes that appeal to the common man in a caliber that appeals to the same.

Can the creed be competitive? obviously it can, and the newbie that wants to get into precision shooting without being a reloader or having the knowledge or funds to do so can go buy a decent gun,ammo and scope and go have fun and shoot well in the process. he can also take that same gun and hunt most game we have here in the states.

It's not the caliber guys, it's the factory available ammo that made the CM so wildly popular. (and some very good marketing) Remington could have done the very same with the .260 but we all know that story

To those that think it will magically fade into oblivion? wake up! Obviously after years of record sales the available ammo is everywhere, likely more weights and variations per caliber than anything you will find these days on the shelf.

And no I don't own one, might some day? neither do I own a 6.5x47 or .260 or the swede.

I'm sure the guys at Hornady have been laughing for years as they stuff cash in the bank, I'm sure the gun makers are fond of the caliber as well, they've sure made a few!

Agree with much of what you had to say about the 260, except your saying that the Remington 260 could have done much the same of a 6.5CM if Remington had only done a better job promoting it. Nope. A rifle that can handle tactical rounds with a long bullet of high BC in a standardized DM is what many shooters seek, and what you couldn't do with the 260Rem.

A friend of mine just bought a Tikka T3xTact A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor and shot the best 10 shot group of his life at 1000 yards last week. The rifle he said is the first one he ever had that he didn't want to change anything on the rifle. trigger is good, stock is good and chamber and free bore match mag length to load at .015 off the lands which seems to be the sweet spot for this rifle with 147gr ELD bullets. Already has all the extra stuff you would need to add.

24" Varmint Criterion 8 twister. 42 grains of R-16 and WLR
primer. Bipod and squeeze bag. Bushnell 4.5-30 XRS.....
I was testing R-23 the same day with dismal results. I have not
been able to replicate that .229 group but staying under 1/2
MOA in fair conditions is common. I'll also note, the best accuracy
was with the 140 RDF. Never tried the BR2 primer with this load
seating depth was at my start testing depth.....Always .015 off
lands.

I have a long Brux sitting in the vault for a Max Creedmoor
project but the further I get into my SA284 project, this
barrel may be used for another Wild cat. I might just name it
the "6.5 Greed More"
