More problems with Hornady 22 hornet brass

I have posted before that I have a problem of small flash hole in my hornady 22 hornet brass. The standard decapping pin that comes in RCBS dies and a Lee universal die does not fit through the flash hole. I got info on here to try a smaller pin (can’t find) or grind the regular size pin down a little. Now I just found another problem with the brass from factory ammo in 22 hornet (Hornady 35 gr v max) the primer pocket is smaller than normal. My primer pocket uniformer will not even fit. I have a bunch of this factory ammo because this is what shot good before I started reloading. Anyone else have this problem? I always thought Hornady would have been a little more consistent

The Hornady brass I have tried (non hornet) has been some of the worst brass I have seen as far as consistency.
I load for 22hornet every few years. Because of the very small case capacity it becomes VERY sensitive when your brass is not consistent.
Best advice is to cash that hornady brass in for scrap. Then start with better stock.

The fact that your uniformer won’t fit isn’t necessarily a problem. Having a tight primer pocket is a good thing.
On my ADG and Lapua 260 brass I can’t get my uniformer in the primer pocket until the 2nd or 3rd firing. I just use my primer pocket brush to clean the carbon out of the pocket and load it up.

Interesting, since I don't have any 22 hornet brass and no 22H rifles, but I do have and use a lot of 17 hornet in my rifle and have no issues, at all, with using Hornady brass.
Clean it good and anneal, when needed and it works just fine.
Maybe try some 17 hornet brass and neck it up. See how that works for you.

Most foreign and many American manufacturers of .22 Hornet brass have small flashholes and use .062” decapping pins, e.g., Hornady (Small .060” #396618), PPU, Sellier & Bellot, etc. Remington brass has Standard American flashholes size of .080” and use large decapping pins (Hornady Large .070” #390222). DO NOT USE Hornady Small-Headed .060” #396326.
