NRA Sues Its Own Foundation Over Roughly $160M In Joint Fundraising Money

The National Rifle Association filed a lawsuit Monday against its charitable arm, the NRA Foundation, claiming trademark infringement and unfair competition.

^^^^^^ What he said. I know there are members here that insist they must be supported. You are just starving an organization that will do good work to throw away that money on a legal battle that will only make a couple of lawyers rich.
*me*

The non shooting community has no idea who "the other guys" are. They also have a limited member base compared to the NRA. Join all, but the NRA needs to remain, but repaired.

Danny

Danny I hear what you are saying, but they are never going to repair themselves and we can't do it to them. Let them die, while not as noticeable as the NRA the GOA and others are making a difference in the courts while NRA money is being used to stir the shit that is the NRA at this time. Sending them money is just prolonging the agony.

It was more than "one" that was guilty. While Wayne ruled it was about 80% of the board. Due to 5 year and longer members voting, the board is now 75% reformed. Very few Wayne loyalists left. They are trying to steer the ship, but it takes time. I'm with you that Wayne and Jim should be in a cell, but so should the "legal team" that was billing the NRA 1 million a month to defend Wayne (sorry the name of the firm/guy escapes me). No stain on the other organizations for carrying the water, but the NRA has to come back as they were/are the strongest lobby arm.

They are certainly the best place to waste your money. I hate that my local club makes me maintain a membership.
That's the only damn reason I'm still a member!! It feels like black mail to have an excellent place to shoot. I'm a member of goa and my state association. I too am tired of the constant bombardment of phone calls and mailing. I used to give more to the nra but forced membership is all they get until they act like their trying to right the ship.

WLP belongs in jail, along with others. He stole about $5 MILLION, others had to know. One of the NRA financial people moved on to a 501 charitable wildlife organization, he must have known of the stealing at the NRA. I dropped my membership and contributions immediately. The NRA was supportive of law enforcement UNTIL WLP. The board should have been supportive of the New York prosecutor, she was trying to protect OUR MONEY. Some thing is wrong with the by-laws or the PEOPLE in charge when $5 MILLION can be misappropriated or stolen from an organization. When WLP is prosecuted, and the board is helping with the prosecution, I may consider them. I was a "life member", supporter and contributor for about 30 years.

meah--- I'm still with em. Call me a sappy optimist if ya want, but I joined back in '72', and been making annual renewals since then. Joined the wife up when we got married so we could get both mags.
I've wasted more money on stupider stuff that doesn't come with a magazine. ;)

I also belong to GOA, and hope my money is well spent by them.
It would be easy to simply get apathetic and pessimistic about everything, but I don't think the Lord likes that. I hope NRA heals up and does better, and I hope I can enjoy the on-line mag. When I see a news blip that says the NRA boasts a bazillion members, I like that too. jd
