More 6mm BRX die Questions.

Since the 6BRX has the shoulder pushed forward.10" would it be possible to run the 6BRX reamer into a standard 6mm die to make a semi- custom die set, so it would size the base of the brass as the factory 6BR die will not?

If you cut a die with a finishing reamer, it will be the same size as your chamber. Therefore, it won't size anything because if the fired brass can be extracted from your chamber, it will fit back into your die.

You'd need to use a roughing or resize reamer if that's what you wanted to achieve.

The only sort of die you can make with a finishing reamer is a seating die or a neck sizing die if you fit a bushing to it.

I'm not a gunsmith so if I'm wrong, I'll be happy to be corrected but I can't see how it could work otherwise.

Also, it sounds like you want to ream out a redding or other commercial FL die -- it's not that easy, because the dies are hardened ;)

I resize my 6BRX brass with a redding 6BR FL die that has had the interior shoulder and neck portion removed with a .5" carbide drill. This die is used to size the base which is an absolute necessity if you are to shoot the brass more than three times.I use a 6BR body die to bump the shoulder .002" and a bushing die to size the neck. This process yields brass with .001-.0015" of run-out. A custom die is really the way to go here. Spend the $150 and never look back.
