Moon clips in Taurus 627 357 mag

I found moon clips sized that will fit my Taurus 627 . I have read some that say it has to be machined on a Mill? I cant understand why I cant fit in my lathe? If any of you can tell me any additional clearence needed etc, It would be much appreciated! I hate to ruin a cylinder but cant for the life of me understand why this operation could not be done in the lathe? Let me know thanks Kent

Moon clips to fit your wheel gun are used for rimless cartridges not rimmed cartridges.

9X19 moon clipped/ejected thru 38Spl/357 mag chambering.

45ACP thru 45 Auto Rim/45 Colt/454 Casull/460 S&W chamberings.

So you are saying I cant use moon clips on my taurus 627 chambered in 357? Tk customs machines them! you are mistaken and it doesnt answer my question sir!

I have a Ruger SP101 in 3" and a S&W 36 both have been converted to moon clips for RIMMED cartridges. TK Custom does them and the turn around was fast. The reason you have to cut them in the mill is the extractor has to stay in the cylinder when machined. In a lathe you run the risk of the extractor popping out and being damaged. Tom Kilhoffer is a great guy and highly recommend him. Do buy the product as a kit its works. Jon Nyhus

Interesting, thank you why the extractor has to stay in has me puzzled as long as the barrel is indexed in chuck pecise? perhaps a scribed line for extractor would suffice?
