Montana 1999 tennon OD and thread pitch ?

Does anyone know off hand the tennon OD and thread pitch used on the MRC 1999 action ? I bought an older one and had a smith put a barrel on it. I had it sent straight to the smith so I never saw it before it was barreled and when it arrived I was pretty much horrified at the fit and finish ! I'm thinking of pulling the brand new barrel and putting it on something else. Trying to figure out my options at this point. I will never use the smith again for not letting me know it was so rough and just slapping the barrel on it.

I don`t think you got a case to bitch.......you bought an admittedly "pig in the poke".....do you realize the time it takes to make a silk purse outa a sows ear ???........ you were probably quoted..150-250$ for a barrel job, which isn't worth doing on a factory action unless you at least true up the action... and a full scale blueprint would be better...add another 150$ bill.......
then you want the barreled action shiney...buffed and reblued...... add another 150$.....
To run a shop costs more than 25$/hr more like an honest 75$/hr.........and an initial investment of around10,000$++++......
If you make a much better plan in the future..... you won`t be condemming another mans work..... for your over zealous expectations......

Wow Billlarson ! I never said or asked the smith to fix the action period much less for free. I simply asked him to check it out and use either of my actions that he had. One was a known action that I was buying from him and the one I had sent to him. The original plan was for him to pull the barrel on the one he was selling me and put the new barrel on it but I found what I thought was a reasonable deal on another action and had it sent directly to him. Ok , maybe he missed that the action had a serious problem but the rest of the issues were his doing and we have come to a settlement. Billlarson you have presumed a lot and know nothing of the facts. The action issue is purely the responsibility of Montana Rifle Company as it should never have left the factory. They don't portray themselves as a bottom dollar garbage company like Remington or a Pakistani back yard AK maker. Thinking about it I don't think the thought of MRC putting out this bad of an action crossed his mind and it certainly didn't mine. The action was as described to me when sold in that it was a new MRC action.

I also want to say that the smith has contacted me and offered to make the barrel right by replacing it with the barrel of my choosing and offered to do the rest of the chambering work which I made the choice to pass on. I will be sending his barrel back to him.

So.... if the action is brand new..... and bad....send it back to Montana Rifle Co.....not the smiths fault. ......have you shot the gun.....????...you won`t no unless you shoot it..... shiney guns are not always the most accurate.....
and the smith is going to replace barrel, with a new barrel of your choosing...... and rechamber/thread/test fire...... for free......????
I`d say that gsmith who you were never going to deal with again is treating you very well......
So...... why are you running him down.......?????
