I went with the Bell & Carlson stock, it should be here in a few days.
Are they 1/4-28 or 1/4-32?
By eyeballing, they appear to be 1/4-32's...which is the same as factory Model 70 screws. Midwest Gunworks, NECG and Forster, etc. offer longer than factory Model 70 guard screws that you can shorten to fit. It's not 1/4-28, he has that, and I double checked with a Remington screw which doesn't fit. He doesn't have anything that fits the screws I have. I emailed Montana Rifle, they might know what was used in the older models.
Thank you for your time! With the barreled action taped tightly into the stock I dropped a 4" nail in through the holes in the bottom metal until it bottomed and came up with ~ 1 3/4" for the rear screw and ~ 1 1/2" for the front, bottomed. I'm not sure how to calculate the exact length but I would need 6 threads to firmly secure it.By eyeballing, they appear to be 1/4-32's...which is the same as factory Model 70 screws. PS: Let me know how much length you need them and I'll see what I have.
Thanks. Unfortunately I'm not setup to make my own screws. You have me thinking though I'll talk with a buddy of mine in MA if I strikeout.I have made many action screws from these blanks. They used to come with a lot more than 20.
