The finish and appearance can vary quite a bit. Might not be important to you, is to me.Is there a benefit to any version?
it doesnt matter what stock it comes from but there are short actions, long actions, repeaters and single shots. mostly repeaters. the frame rails are different on some depending on the original cartridge they were built for. like say on a magnum bolt face model versus a 30/06 model, but they fit in the same stocks. In using a model 700 action for a build does it matter which donor it comes from? IE: BDL, ADL, CDL, SPS etc.
Is there a benefit to any version?

I did not know thisJust make sure you don't get one from a DBM rifle unless you want to use the magazine that came with it. They are a different animal all together.
Neither did I or apparently my gunsmith till I spent over a grand getting an action trued and a barrel chambered and then six months trying to get it to feed 257 Rob shells out of a rem BDL set up. Like to have never figured it out. Ended up putting a solid floor plate in it and making a prairie dog single shot rig out of it... JohnI did not know this
Glad you had to pay for that experience and not me! Wait. The two rails in a 700 action [where the bolt locking lug has a cut out for the one on the right side] are feed rails?DBM actions do not have feed rails. They are built into the magazine, so they are way too wide
That piece cut out of the top is for a stripper clip. The feed rails are what hold the rounds down. The space between them is what sets the height the rounds stick up for the bolt to grab themHmm. Thanks.
They look the same to me except the top one appears to have a piece cut out of the top of the receiver.
The one on the bottom looks like the rail is more worn than the one in the top of the picture.
So, the flanges that come off of each side of the inside of the receiver [where rounds are feed through] are not feed rails?
