Mod 70 Classic

When I was doing warranty work for Winchester, I saw a few which had come loose. All were poorly fitting handles with insufficient brazing material in the joint. Nothing wrong with the system but occasional failures in execution. WH

Yes my 338 handle stripped the spline...a week before elk season..... no time to send it to Dan Armstrong to have it tig welded. I silver brazed it back on..... sucked the silver in like it was copper pipe soldering.....its held for 11 years.

I recall John Barsness writing that it is common to have the handle removed and silver brazed or tigged back on for a dangerous game rifle.
