MOA information

Can someone please help me. I have been shooting most of my life and have always done serious target shooting. I am about to go sight in a friend of mine scope on a 22. I suffered some real brain damage from Covid and can no longer do simple basic math and my memory is shot. Anyway, I am trying to figure out on a 1/4 click scope, how many clicks do I use to make 1 moa at 25 yards and at 50 yards. I know this is very simple and basic, but I can no longer figure these things out. It is very frustrating and embarrassing . Thank you for your help.

Don't be embarrassed, I make my wife wear a name tag!
Not really sure what your trying to do.
I get a 50 yard zero on my 22s.
While sighting in on a 1moa grid target, just come up or down on the turrets how ever many clicks it takes. Use the grid as a reference. As far as 25 yards, on mine 25 and 50 are very close.

Hey! Sorry for your trouble. You may be over thinking it. A 1/4 “ click” scope takes 4 clicks per MOA. At 25, 50, 100 or 1000, it’s all the same to the scope. Good luck!

Thanks guys. I have what they call “cloud” issues. I try to think of something and it is all basically in a cloud that I cannot make clear. I’ve been trying to think about this for a while now and I just have not been able to get an answer in my mind. I’m thinking, if I use four clicks I get one inch of movement at 100 yards. But if I’m at 50 yards will four clicks get me 1/2” or 2” of change? I know this is very basic and I’ve been doing it for many years, but I just can no longer get it clear in my mind. I’m sorry.

With 1/4 clicks you need 8 clicks at 50 yards to move one inch on the target

With 1/4 clicks you need 16 clicks at 25 yards to move one inch on the target

22s are a finicky sob
Here is my drop chart for lapua
Shot at 75* @ 5500 ft elevation
It WILL change based on temp and alt.
A LOT!!

As joshb said, 1/4 MOA at 100 yards is exactly the same as at any other distance.

It's only if you think in terms of dimensions that you need to do the math.

Your scope is probably marked " 1/4" at 100 yds ", but in reality, it is a 1/4 MOA per click. So 4 clicks is a MOA difference from where it was. That (the MOA per click) remains the same no matter what distance you're at. What changes is the measurement of 1 MOA at varying distances.

Distance (yds): 1MOA (or 4 clicks, if you prefer that.)

025 : 0.263"
050 : 0.525"
100 : 1.05"
200 : 2.10"
300 : 3.15"
400 : 4.2"
500 : 5.25"
600 : 6.3"
1000 : 10.5"
1500 : 15.75"

Also remember that most scopes are direction marked as to how the shot moves on the target (i.e. if you are shooting to the left of where you want, you turn the scope turret to the "right", as that's where you want the shot to go.) This is true up until it isn't (for instance, European iron sights are often directionally marked to move the sight in that direction, rather than the shot on paper. Don't know about Euro scopes, as I don't have any.)

Hope this helps.
