MISSISSIPPI BLACK T

Anyone here use it or a fan of it? Just got a rifle back with it on and it looks pretty nice. My smith says he believes it's better than CeraKote tho I have no experience with CK. I had a stainless barrel on steel action, but he had no one to blue to match so we went with the teflon type coating. Maybe later I'll get some pics.

If it’s the same thing as Birdsongs Black T coating I would assume better than cerakote. The Birdsong finishes are what is used on the TacOps rifles and mike wouldn’t use it if it didn’t perform.

I’ve never heard of it referred to as “Mississippi black- T” but I know birdsong is in Mississippi.

edit* pics look good, I think you did very well.

Wats it cost....????
I dunno since the smith didn't break out the cost. My cost not counting my shipping for a Hart SS barrel, fitting, chambering coating and sending it back to me was $865 Was chambered in 6.5-06AI.
Here is a pic of part of it.
I have 2 older Rem700s LA LH. One I bought new as a BDL in 1976 in .30-06 and the other used just for the action. May have been an .06 too I don't recall. Both as I recall had these older style triggers. This one happens to be a Shilen trigger and I had to cannibalize one of the others for parts to add a safety. The safety on this one locks the bolt when cocked and the safety engaged. The safety lever [wasn't coated] looks nice with the Black T finish as does the rail. FWIW when I put the rail on I snugged one end and could hardly slip a dollar bill between the receiver and the rail on the other so I called it good.

Anyone having any of these old parts for a left hand Rem trigger and want to part NPI with them let me know.

Not sure why the bolt stop release won't stay in its proper spot.

I have several rifles with the black T (Birdsong) coating. Wonderful. Very durable- will not rust. These rifles were coated about 15 years ago and still look new. Can’t go wrong with this type of coating.

Your gunsmith has excellent taste and gives nothing but the best to his customers.
Birdsong's Black-T is a finish that will long outlast anything but the harshest of mistreatment.
I had a Kimber 1911coated by Birdsong that was my EDC for many years. Rain, snow and many a holster tried but couldn't break it.

Has anyone tried to use the aerosol can and do it themselves? Just wondering how the tips are compared to one of the normal rattle cans out there. I was thinking about doing cerakote, but this looks like a good option.
