Mini Drill Chuck - Tool Report - Good

[ELR LVR]

So as a Machinst who works on/modifies some tiny things, from Triggers to Carb jets .
This often involes small as human hair drill bits

I needed a small chuck that could hold them, straight, that adjusts down to zero in size
Problem being, the only thing decent is an Albrecht Jewellers chuck ($200 plus)
Which not being a Watchmaker, and only need this occasionally
Found a cheap alternative
a Labear mini chuck
they make 2 sizes this being the smallest one
That is a .013" drill bit in the pic inside the chuck
it holds them secure and straight
Some of you guys may appreciate this if you drill with small bits also
they are about $15 on ebay

Sometimess its just "Chasing or clearing a hole" or slightly enlarging it
(Pilot Jets for instance)
Carb Tuning to perfection requires such tools as one example

As good as the runout you dial in with the lathe
The chuck that holds the mini chuck is dialed in with the 4 jaw

Cobalt is well worth it,
in that size is not much more money, doesnt break as easy since it stays sharper longer
Thats a commnly used pilot drill size, so also more commonly broken

Cobalt is worth every penny when you start getting below 3/32". In my opinion.
