Millions of rounds of .22 ammo stolen from U.S.-bound trucks on Mexican highway

Having lived along the border for a couple of years, the only thing i will add to this is it was bad in the seventy's when i was there and as you can see on TV now it is simply lawless now. The cartels are very plainly running the country and were doing so back in the seventy's as well as before that.

The only difference is before they simply bought the president and quietly went about making their billions and now it's openly in your face. The movie "Clear and present danger" wasn't as far fetched as it seemed at the time and a few simple air strikes will correct the problem for years to come.

There's no political will to end the drug trade in Mexico or here in the United States. It's like the defense department. Everyone knows where the bad guys are and just enough is done to prove the need for their existence. The drug war provides MILLIONS of jobs at all levels of law enforcement, federal, state, city and municipal locales. Add in hardware like guns, aircraft, etc. and software, the drug enforcement establishment is a jobs producing entity.

My experience in Mexico (real Mexico, not Cozumel) was completely different. Some of the finest people I’ve ever met. But that was 20 years ago and maybe things have changed. There’s no doubt that some areas are sketchy but the same is true for all coun0
It is really a nice place. I still remember the atmosphere in the resturant. but it was way down in mexico. Mid to late 70s. Gary

Ya know.......... they could take a trick used in WWII and use it against those bad guys. Load up a bunch of high pressure rounds and let them get stolen. Let’s say load a bunch of AK rounds full of pistol powder?
Project Eldest Son in Vietnam era.
But I don’t think the Cartel is concerned with any end-user injuries.
