Mil-spec lubricant

I used several of the small cans like that on my shotgun (H&R 20 was all I owned back then) during my youth. But I remember seeing it in larger cans also, pints ,quarts and gallons were at one of the LGS I visited. I used to think who would use a whole gallon? Now I wish i had one.

I was a Navy Gunner's Mate, and we used VVL-800A, weapons oil light, there was also a weapons oil medium MIL-L-46000B that was a little more viscous and the one we used the most of was Break Free CLP. We did a lot of boardings while on counter narcotics operations and it could be pretty rough weather at times so the small arms were routinely exposed to a lot of salt water spray. The CLP worked better than anything else we had access to.
