Mid-West F Class Championship My First Long Range Match

Missouri Mid Range Championships

I want to thank Joe Meyer and crew for putting on an excellent match. For those who didn't go you really missed out.

I also want to thank "The Arkansas Long Range Mafia" a.k.a. Jimbo Fowler, Matt Owens and Dusty Stevens! These guys were part of the core of shooters who were pushing me to make long range bullets. For the match they provided everything I needed to shoot. All I brought was a set of ear muffs and a spotting scope. Turns out I didn't even need the spotting scope.

Jimbo and I double up on his rifle. The rifle is a Bat MB, MacMillan stock, bartlein 7.5 twist barrel, chambered in 6 Dasher by Dusty Stevens, Jewell trigger with a March scope. Jimbo loaded close to 200 rounds for us to shoot. I believe the load was 33.5 of Varget with my 105 grain 6MM bullet.

I was feeling a bit of pressure to say the least. With this being my first long range match and shooting my new bullets. As it turned out Jimbo's gun was laser like. I made a few mistakes but the rifle shot well enough to get the win for the F Bench portion of the shoot with a score of 596 33X. Jerry Kloeppel scored a 596 23x for second.

Pic before the match! My first long range shoot.

Matt and Jimbo were tearing up the X ring in F Class Open. Matt managed 37X and Jimbo 31X. A few dropped points cost them dearly.

A great shoot and a great time! I really enjoyed meeting everyone!

Awesome Trophy! Thanks Joe Meyer! This one is special!

Congratulations are also in order for:

Jeff Conover F class Champion!

Paul Siracusa FTR Champion

Great shooting!

I know i had a great time. The st louis crew is second to none in service and facilities at our benchrest matches and have been for years. Big thanks go out to all the people involved in such a great match. Got to see some of my old friends and meet some new ones. Congrats again to the 3 winners. And big congrats to bart on that score on his first time to pull a trigger at 600yd!

Actually Bart, you shot at 615 yards from the bench. Certainly glad you guys came and I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you this time. Be very careful not to get addicted to Fclass because of the need for more can be overwhelming! All things being equal , the bench guys do about the same as Open class most days but you guys had a tough relay to finish up. I watched some of the final shots and you let patients prevail, great work Bart!!

PS: could you let Jimmy hold the trophy once in awhile ?

Mike,

Thanks for the kind words and putting on a great match. Hopefully the next time we can visit a bit. You looked pretty busy getting everything organized and squared away. You are correct F Class is addictive. I've been on the internet looking for matches.

I really should let Jimmy touch the trophy. He is the one who provided and tuned the rifle. I didn't even have to set it up in the bags!

Nice work boys! Some people have to shown that they are good bullets! ;D

338 Mollett,

Thanks! I had a lot of help from Jimbo! He had everything tuned and ready! There is no doubt the bullets are good! It's won way too much right out of the gate; including two national events and multiple other regional matches! I've had a couple of hiccups making the damn things but nothing major.

Now I'm focusing on getting setup to shoot 600 and a 1000 yards! All I need is a concrete bench, a couple of target frames and a little time.

This is all Jimmy's fault Bart. Have him bring you up Aug 6th for the last Fclass club match we have with a bench class. They ran everybody out of the schedule in sept to accommodate the guys that haven't tried Fclass yet. (NBRSA Natls)

Mike,

I guess after that match, I'm going to have to figure out how to roll around on the ground and shoot proper F Class!

Bart

You just buy a shooting mat and fall on it, everything else applies.
