Micrometer for neck turning

you do not load empty cases in your rifle, you load assembled ammo. that has a bullet seated in the neck of the case. that is the only number that matters. what is the actual dia of a loaded round, how much clearance do i have.
he has a great mic, but he is only reporting 3 places and in neck turning you use 4
Follow this advice and you will be good , no need for a ball mic.. just a mic., pencil and paper and simple math... also you would be better with alittle more clearance around .003 overall bullet MUST fall in case after firing

I'd worry more about the turner! I don't care if it loaded or a dummy round, the seated bullet dia will be the same, if not you have other issues! Just give yourself .003" clearance and work your load to that. You will want bushings that give you .002" and .003" tension but work your load to what you decide your rifle prefers to use for tension, the only thing I would worry about is having .003" clearance, and a cutter that provides perfect uniform cuts! But I been doing this for decades.

A smaller neck bushing won't change your loaded round od. No matter how small a bushing you use, the bullet is still going to expand the neck out to same diameter.

You need to set you neck turner to take another 1/2 thousandth off, that is .0005. That will reduce the od by one thousandth, .001.
