MEMORIAL DAY -- Family Members Who Served

I was raised in a family of The Greatest Generation: Dad - USMC - WWII & Korea, Uncle Bill - USA - WWII, Uncle Joe - USN - WWI, Uncle Jack - USAAF - WWII, Uncle Russell - USCG - Korea (bitched about not being able to sign up at 13 for WWII like his brothers). On Mom's side - Uncle JB - USA-Corp of Engineers - WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Uncle Mac - USAAF/USAF - WWII, Korea, Vietnam. Two cousins served - Jim - USN - Vietnam and Curtis - USMC - both of these are still with us.
Memorial Day for me is one of remembering all the the times with each of my Uncles and making certain I never forget them.

Thanks to all who serve, served, never came home or have passed on. Without each and every one of you we would have a MUCH different world to live in.

My great Uncle Saul - 32nd Red Arrow division. New Guinea 1942 all the way to the Philippines in 1945.

Talked to a patient where I work the other day - Green Beret in Vietnam.

Watching WWII From the Front Lines on NFLX. Colorized. Excellent. Some first person accounts. Thank God for the Russian winter, Detroit and American mfg. Folks dont realize US built pipelines from oil producing states to NE for oil use and export. At beginning of war Germany was sinking oil tankers off florida coast. Sort of an unappreciated part of US war effort.
