Measuring Rim Thickness

Please excuse me if this has already been discussed and resolved, but do any of you guys measure 22 LR rim thickness when shooting for ultimate accuracy? I know there are lots of rim-thickness gauges out there, but is there any real evidence that sorting ammo into groups based on rim thickness really produces smaller groups?

Go to http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/index.php and do a search. I believe you will find that sorting by rim thickness or weight does not accomplish anything but make you feel good. Nothing substitutes using quality ammo that has been test fired for a given rifle. For the most part, Wolf Match Target or SK Standard Plus (made by RWS, same ammo labeled differently for different distributors). Another test being conducted for reforming/sizing the 22LR. http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=584838

Misnamed an "accurizer," it is a improvement to the Neal Waltz design. Test were done on the Waltz die. If you want more info email me.

It has been discussed in detail on here before and is as Conaso says. The short answer is if you want to improve the accuracy of low priced bulk pack ammo, yes it helps. If you are already using high quality/match grade ammo, the rims are on on the thick edge of the normal range found in cheap, bulk pack ammo and there is MUCH less rim thickness variation within that relatively small range. Sorting such quality ammo won't accomplish anything except take up your time.
