Read everything i could on atmospheric mirage/shimmer and how it distorts target location.. is there a "cheat sheet" on how to account for this? most of what im finding just makes it sound like your FK`d ??
One article i read
i had bot ai parse articles and come up with this but not sure if correct lol

Displacement Scenarios:
- Boiling Mirage:
- Wind Speed: 0-1 mph (6-12 o’clock wind).
- Target Displacement: Vertical only.
- Correction: Slight lowering of the rear sight; negligible horizontal correction.
- Critical Detail: Can indicate a 6-12 o’clock wind or very slight fishtailing.
- Slow Mirage:
- Wind Speed: 1-3 mph.
- Target Displacement: ~1.5 MOA.
- Corrections:
- Vertical: Lower rear sight by 1.31 MOA (~1.25 MOA).
- Horizontal: 0.75 MOA (~3/4 MOA) windage correction.
- Critical Detail: Heat waves are slightly inclined (7-1 or 5-11 o’clock), requiring both elevation and windage adjustments.
- Medium Mirage:
- Wind Speed: 4-7 mph.
- Target Displacement: ~1.5 MOA.
- Corrections:
- Vertical: Lower rear sight by 0.75 MOA (~3/4 MOA).
- Horizontal: 1.31 MOA (~1.25 MOA) windage correction.
- Critical Detail: Heat waves cross the target at a 60° angle (8-2 or 4-10 o’clock), requiring greater horizontal correction.
- Fast Mirage:
- Wind Speed: 8-12 mph.
- Target Displacement: Horizontal only.
- Correction: Adjust windage based on wind speed; no elevation change required.
- Critical Detail: Heat waves move horizontally, indicating strong wind influence.
- Boiling with Lateral Movement:
- Wind Speed: Varies, indicating complex wind directions.
- Target Displacement: Both vertical and horizontal.
- Correction: Varies; requires simultaneous vertical and horizontal adjustments.
- Critical Detail: Secondary heat waves indicate wind from intermediate directions (e.g., 9-12, 3-6 o’clock).
