Just finished up a fun little project and thought I would share since there seems to be a bit of interest around the 6GT lately.
Rifle Specs:
Remington Model Seven trued
Bartlein 7.5 twist 22" 3b contour (suppressed)
Timney Trigger
HS Precision Sporter stock
Alpha Brass
CCI small rifle Magnum Primers
H-4350 Powder
Berger 109s @ .025" jump
Spun this barrel up last weekend and and headed to the range one day after work. Conditions were far from great with an afternoon monsoon storm moving in and giving me some pretty switchy winds. I have a small surplus of H-4350 and decided to start with that. I started at 36 grains and worked up in half grain increments up to 38gr. Used 5 to get a rough zero, cleaned the barrel then started in on load work. Each five shot group was roughly half inch or better. My best group of .398 was at 37.0 grains and gave me a velocity of 2895fps and ES of 6 fps. To say I am pleased with how it shot is an understatement. I didn't see any pressure signs or experience any stiff bolt lift at 38 grains which if I remember correctly was max load in the Hogdon Manual. I love small efficient cartridges and this definitely fits the bill. Incredibly easy to tune even with a bullet that has proven to be a little temperamental to me in the past. I got some more loaded up to stretch it out some and see how it does.
