Just bought my first chassis. All my other rifles are single shot or factory box mags. This is a 6BR and I have read until my eyes is bugging out about mags… so here is my question… all of you with real world experience, is there one brand of mag suitable for a BR that is better than the others that don’t require modifications or kits? Is there one that’s better because of a modification or a kit?
MDT makes a good 6BR mag. You might get lucky but most combinations never just work perfectly. It’s not uncommon to need to tweak things to get them to work 100%.
Actual Accuracy International branded magazines. I’ve tried various Accurate Mag brand mags and they just never worked for me but some guys get along with them fine.
Following. I have a mag fed 30BR headed my way soon that will also maybe be in a oryx chassis. Didn’t really want a 10 round mag, but got the MDT 6BR mag and I already had a 5 round AI mag so I ordered a primal rights spacer kit. Hopefully I can tune them and get em to feed flawlessly.
I’ve had problems running 10rd magpul with dashers. It worked some but eventually more often than not would jam nose down. 5rd seem to be fine. I’m not sure why but 5rd seems way easier to work with on all brands which for a lot of guys, that’s all they want. Magpuls feed slicker than any others. The plastic just glides.
A Cpl things said above have rang true for me. As much as I dont like them the cheap magpul type plastics have been better in many instsnces. Second someone mentioned finding the right combo... this is also correct. I have two mags where I added extensions and they worked immediately without issue. Have also had to mess with the lips.
Finally if you have adjustability in the chassis for mag height set them as high as they will go and not interfere with bolt throw. This has helped in CF and RF mags for me. I have an older MDT chassis but I think some of the new ones are adjustable... perhaps not on the oryx. IDK.

These magazines work perfectly in my 6BR built on a Tikka T3 action set into an MDT Oryx stock and are made of metal, Not plastic and are spacificlly designed for the range of 6BR based cartridges.
Double stacked but with center feed so the round goes directly into the chamber, no spacers or modified lips, they just work and this company does a whole range of of magazines for lots of rifles aside from the AI/AICS format.
