MDT aluminum stocks

If I was going chassis route. I think it comes down to fit, just like any other stock. The mdt is too notch. The cadex is good too but it's a lot more $$$. I also like the eliseo tube gun. Xlr chassis look pretty nice also. I haven't handled one tho. I've heard they're heavy unless you go with the carbon one. Either way, it all comes down to what you need and how it fits you, and for me, the mdt was the one. I wouldn't however consider it a budget or economy option once you start adding a buttstock and good pistol grip. It also doesn't give up any quality to the others and customer service is second to none! I know that for a fact.

Guys thanks for all the pics and comments. I decided to go with the HS3 chassis, folding stock adapter and PRS butt stock. I'll be using a Savage 10 SA and a 6.5x47L in the making, 24" McGowen SS 8 twist barrel with a no-turn neck. With the 6.5x47L do you all think a muzzle brake is nessessary? I mounted my 308 barreled action on the stock to check function. I discovered the folding stock adapter will not work with this stock, when I tried to cycle the bolt It would hit the top of the adapter causing the bolt to hang up. So I removed it and sent it back to MDT. Other than that hickup I really like this chassis system and plan to purchase another one for my Rem 700.

Glad you found sometging that fits you! I hope you enjoy your hs3. If you find your length of pull is too short without the folding stock adapter, you can order a pachmayer adapter for the PRS that lengthens it a good chunk. Or mdt makes a 3 way adjustable buttplate that will lengthen it a little bit. As for the brake, I wouldn't bother unless you're shooting PRS.

What kind of pistol grip did you go with?

I have a 1" extension for the buttstock that I may use. I had an pistol grip that memmicks the 1911 grip angle (my preferred handgun), that I had on my High Power match rifle until a couple guys cried about ii and claimed it give me an advantage. So I took it off and still out scored them. Now it's on my MDT. Because of my shoulder operation I had a couple years ago I'm still a little recoil shy, so I was wondering which type gives the best results?

I use the ergo grips myself, if you are having trouble with recoil, the mercury recoil reducer makes the 6.5x47 shoot something like a heavy barrel 223.

I got one for my 5.56 Mossberg MVP. The first one wouldn't feed from a magazine so they sent me a replacement. Works well now. I had to free float the tang...

I can go tacticooly or F-classy with it. I'm still waiting to receive a long fast twist barrel. Then I'll have a switch almost everything system...
